I got all the guys back on the bus to get to the bottom of this huge clusterfuck. All of them were staring at me, venom shooting from their eyes. “Okay, I know you guys are pissed,” I declared as I grabbed some bottles of water and tossed them to everyone. I raked my hands through my hair and thought about how to approach this.

“Shit, you must be serious if you’re not drinking any Jack,” Gunner laughed.

I didn’t want to get into it with him right now, so anything he said that wasn’t valid I ignored. The bus became quiet, and only the humming of the engine was heard. Air circulated around us, helping me to breathe easy.

“Okay, what do you need to tell us Linc?” Wyatt asked. “Do we have another rogue on our hands?”

“I was going for a run, and I caught a scent,” I started saying, and Gunner had to cut me off.

“Ah shit, did you meet another ‘True Mate” Linc?”

I braced my hands on my hips and watched as he squirmed under my gaze.

“Look, I’m not playing here, guys,” I began. “Savannah’s daughter is a shifter,” I blurted out and everything in that moment changed.

“How is that even possible?” Kevin piped in, shaking his head. “Did you see her shift or did Savannah tell you that, because to me it sounds like bullshit.”

I roared, and all eyes bounced back to me. “I’m not joking here.” My voice with raw and deep. “This little girl knows what I am, not because I told her, but she just knows.” Frustration was setting in as I looked from Maxx to Riley and over to Jonny and the other guys. “This is fucking serious, whoever fathered Shay doesn’t know, or he would’ve come back for her.” The thought of Shay being taken from Savannah made me sick, and I knew she would kill to keep her daughter safe.

“We’ve all met Savannah, and even though her scent is different, she’s human,” Riley declared.

“Right?” I said to him. “It literally makes no fucking sense. How do we keep Shay safe?” I grunted. That little girl has a piece of my heart now, and I’ll be damned if I let anyone hurt her or her mother.

“Well, you don’t really know, Savannah, Linc,” Wyatt affirmed. “Maybe it skipped a generation and landed on the child?”

“Fuck that, I’m sure that’s not what’s happening here, dude.”

“How do you know? Wait, who’s the sperm, donor?” Gunner asked.

I just shook my head from side to side. “What are you trying to say? She isn’t some groupie whore that has no idea who fathered her child. Come on, that’s pretty far-fetched, don’t you think?”

The sun was bleeding through the interior of the cabin, and I realized we had talked right through the night into the morning.

Now I stood at attention, every nerve ending tingled and my senses were locked on high alert. Something was off, I felt that deep in my bones and a low growl rattled my rib cage.
